The era of digital transformation has arrived in Uruguay with a powerful ally: the Digital SAS. In a world increasingly driven by technology, this article explores how Uruguay is embracing and adapting to new technologies, with a special focus on the influence and impact of the Digital SAS.

The incorporation of SAS companies in digital form is undoubtedly another step forward in terms of digitalization. The traditional or classic way of incorporating a company requires the physical presence of the partner or partners, a professional, and whoever carries out the procedure before the different offices in person. In the case of digital incorporation, physical presence is not required, as the entire incorporation process is carried out online. However, it should be noted that once the SAS is incorporated, it is still necessary to process corporate books, which cannot yet be kept digitally. In addition, share certificates must be issued, and shareholders and ultimate beneficiaries must be reported to the Central Bank of Uruguay (BCU).

The main objectives of digital incorporation are, first and foremost, simplification and efficiency, as it seeks to streamline and expedite the process. This allows entrepreneurs and business owners to establish their companies more quickly, reducing waiting times. The incorporation of the SAS is carried out simultaneously with the National Registry of Commerce, the Social Security Bank (BPS), and the Tax Authority (DGI), and within 24 hours the SAS is assigned its number in the Single Tax Registry (RUT). There is no requirement for official publications or for the legality control performed by the National Internal Audit Office in the case of corporations.

At the same time, it facilitates universal access to company creation by allowing interested parties to submit documentation and complete procedures from any location with Internet access. This promotes inclusion and enables greater participation in entrepreneurship and business activity.

It also reduces costs associated with printed copies, physical mailings, travel time, and notarial fees, making the process more financially accessible.

Finally, digital incorporation lays the groundwork for continuous online business management. This includes filing reports, making changes to the company structure, and submitting tax returns, all of which simplify the business owner’s responsibilities throughout the life of the SAS.

In conclusion, the road toward digital transformation is a journey Uruguay is fully committed to, and the Digital SAS is a key ally in this process. As we move toward an increasingly digital future, it is crucial to maintain the vision of a more innovative, efficient, and equitable Uruguay, and to continue investing in the tools and strategies that will lead us to that goal. Digital transformation is an opportunity for growth and progress, and Uruguay is on the right path to make the most of this potential.
